Military Homecoming Outfits - As if the stress of returning to the Navy wasn't enough, planning what to wear is even more difficult. Is it something…six months? Nine? Since the last time he saw his wife. I know you want them to look better. So you shave your legs, clean the house, read through stocking the fridge. All this is expected to return home on the appointed day and not change again (for the second time). I am a Navy wife and have photographed many Navy homecomings. From submarines to carriers, in all kinds of weather (rain or shine) in two different states. I've had my own adventures and I know what it's like to change my mind over and over again about what to wear. So based on this experience, here are my favorite military alien costumes!

First, you want to add some color to your outfit. Something that makes you stand out from the crowd. Don't worry, he'll still know how you feel! But, adding a splash of color will really show better if you have a photographer writing something else with color on the side.

If you are looking for light and pastel colors, I recommend them. These are perfect for summer and spring and holidays and other military activities. I personally love pastels as I am a light and airy photographer.

My favorite store to get maxi and knee length dresses is from Baltic Born. They are usually true to size (although they can sometimes be longer), but they are the best and the lowest at $60.00.

The best part about wearing a romper or jumpsuit is that we don't have to worry about the wind blowing and showing our underwear. We don't want to be that person! So these can be great for hot summer days or winter days. Wear them with cute shoes and a jacket for cold weather. Also, wearing a romper or onesie allows you to do just that... where you jump into their arms and wrap your legs around them. I mean, you can't do that with clothes!

Revolve has an endless number of rompers that you can choose between $35 and $200 and they are worth it!

Lulu also has a variety of jumpsuits and rompers that are under $100 and usually run true to size (but can be tricky when in doubt, size up if "true to size" is 75% or smaller)

Choose clothes that will keep you comfortable throughout the day. I love these denim leggings in olive. They have built-in counters to help remove any leftover pizza or ice cream from the night before.

What you wear outside is just as important as what you wear underneath. You can go to a clothing store and spend money. I've certainly done it before.

You really want to stand out for your partner. It's been a long time since you've seen each other. But you don't want to be the talk of the town either. Remember, you're using something you'll be happy with for years.

If your eyes are a little shiny or revealing, I like to wear a blazer to keep it nice during the first visit and then take it off when you get home. You'll find a few different versions here and here.

It's fun to try new things, but if you do, stay true to your individual taste and style. An easy way to "be yourself" when choosing clothes is to ask yourself a question: Does this bring me joy?
